Municipal
Housing
Application's registration starts around February and July every year for
newly constructed apartments or houses and vacant housing. Those families
who complete the Foreign Resident Registration and are living or working
in Osaka City can apply for municipal housing. (Applications for vacant
housing are limited to people living in Osaka City only.)
However, because there are so many applicants for the limited number of
municipal housing units available, occupants are almost always determined
by lottery. Applicants must meet certain income conditions as listed
in the application guidelines. Application guidelines are available fro
the following offices when the new application period opens.
Also, city-owned housing is available for the middle- class, parents wishing
to live close to their children and for the family, which has children of
pre-elementary school age.
