•Keeping Pets
(1) Registration of Pets
Please apply for the dog registation and dog license at the Public Health and Welfare Center in your local ward within 30 days from the day you began keeping the dog.  (more than 91 days old)
<Registration fee : ¥3,000 (including license)>

(2) Inoculation for Rabies
Please get your dog inoculated for Rabies at the group vaccination session held in April of each year.
Focus Group: Dogs more than 91 days old
Fee:Inoculation certificate issue:550 yen
Inoculation:2,650 yen
Contact: Public Health and Welfare Center in your local ward
*If your dog was not able to take the inoculation during this period, please take the inoculation at your nearest animal clinic.  Submit the inoculation report to the Public Health and Welfare Center in your local ward and receive the inoculation certificate (charge required).
A license and inoculation certificate must be attached to the dog's collar.  If your dog bites someone, you must report the incident to the Public Health and Welfare Center.
Please report the change of address and the death of your pet.

(3) If you Become Unable to Keep Your Pet...
Please do your best to find a new owner.  However, if you find yourself unavoidably no longer able to keep your pet, you can contact the Public Health and Welfare Center or Animal Rescue Centers (for a fee).

(4) If Your Pet Misbehaves...
Take proper care of your pet so that it does not become a nuisance or threat to your neighbors.  In Japan, the management associations of apartment houses and condominiums often adopt rules forbidding the keeping of pets.  When walking your pet, keep it on a leash.  If your pet hurts someone, you can be fined.

(5) If Your Pet Dies...
If your pet should die, you can call the Kizugawa Office of the Environmental Management Bureau (06-6551-1730 56551-1899) and ask to have your pet disposed of for a fee.  Also in cace such pet is a dog please report to the Public Health and Welfare Center to cancel the pet's registration, and return the license and inoculation certificate.

•Chonaikai(Autonomous Community Association)
Every district of the city has a Chonaikai, or autonomous community association, which promotes friendship and mutual assistance in the neighborhood. Although membership is optional, life is easier if you become a member because the Chonaikai provides useful information on daily life and public activities. It Circulates the city newsletter and plans various recreational acivities. Enrollment and monthly fees vary from one Chonaikai to another.

•Personal Seals (Inkan)
In Japan, it is more common to use a personal seal (hanko or inkan) than a signature.
Your seal imprint is legally binding - consider it to be equal in importance to your signature.  Never affix your seal carelessly - it could obligate you as the guarantor of the debt of another person.
