Electricity
The Kansai Electric Power Co., Ltd. supplies power throughout the Kansai region.  The voltage and frequency of the electricity supplied in western Japan is 100V AC/60Hz. (200V AC is also available).  In eastern Japan (including Tokyo).  the frequency is 50Hz.

•Applying for Electric Service
Contact your local Kansai Electricity Power office. On line application is also available. When you move into your new accomodation, call the local business office of Kansai Electric Power Co., Ltd. and give them the date on which you started to use electricity, your customer number (appearing on the postcard or envelope attached to the switch box or the meter), name, address and telephone number.  The telephone number of the local business office is also printed on the postcard or envelope.

•Paying your Electric Bill
Your electric bill is calculated from the monthly meter reading.  You can pay your bill through a convenience store, bank, post office, or Kansai Electric branch office; or you can pay by automatic transfer from your bank or postal account, or pay with a designated form (by postal application)

•Discontinuing Electric Service
If you are going to move out, you can telephone or apply via internet to the business office of Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. Tell them the address of your residence, so they can make the necessary arrngements to turn off the power on the day you move out.  The service person will also hand you your final bill.
